Great Pyrenees, one of a breed of large dogs having a white coat, raised originally in the Pyrenees Mountains (mountain range located between Spain and France) for herding sheep and as a watchdog. (Random House Unabridged Dictionary)

In the United States, Great Pyrenees are used on farms around cattle  and as guard dogs on farms in the country. They are also seen in urban areas as watchdogs and pets.
